How
You Can Help
Please
note that the Red Cross is unable to accept non-monetary
donations such as food and clothing because of storage and
transportation requirements. Financial donations are the
most efficient way for our organization to meet the emergency
needs of individuals and families who have lost their homes
to fires and other disasters. Below are some ideas on how
you can help.
Host
a Special Event
During
times of disaster or great need, our local community often
responds through organizing group fundraising events or
campaigns. Please be advised that hosting an event may require
a considerable amount of work on your part. You must determine
the date, location, and logistical details and be responsible
for all promotion and implementation.
Examples
of community fundraising events
-
Host a benefit party/concert.
-
Host a silent auction benefit.
-
Donate a portion of your business proceeds to the American
Red Cross.
-
Collect donations from employees or customers
The
American Red Cross has restrictions and requirements regarding
the use of our logo and does not participate in door-to-door
fundraising of any kind. In order to be officially recognized
as a community fundraising event by the American Red Cross,
you must receive written authorization to do so in the form
of a fundraising agreement signed by a Red Cross representative.
